About Equine Massage

About Equine Massage

A lot of people enjoy a good massage, but did you know horses benefit from massages, too?

Equine massage is the non-invasive, therapeutic application of professional massage techniques applied to the horse and may accomplish increased performance levels and endurance as well as helping to prevent injury.

A horse's body weight is more than 60% of muscle and just as our muscles can get sore over time, horses can also suffer from muscle soreness and fatigue. In horses, small muscle injuries can take up to 90 days to become apparent by way of a change in attitude, decreased performance, or lameness. Prompt attention to minor muscle injuries may enhances a horse's performance and prevent future problems.

Equine massage involves applying pressure to specific parts of the body. The amount of pressure used will vary. The average massage session is 30 minutes.
